General Information for All Renters
- All renters will provide all program staff and materials, supervision of participants, training of staff, recreational equipment, food service, food, emergency and routine health care.
- All renters will provide emergency transportation with an available vehicle at all times.
- All renters will provide their own paper goods such as paper towels, toilet paper and garbage bags.
- All renters will purchase and remove their own food.
- All renters will remove their own trash. Trash removal by Watanda must be arranged, dumpster fees apply.
- All renters will observe the ALL LAKE QUIET from 9:30 pm to 7 am in which only quiet activities are to occur.
- Camp Watanda is an environmental site, only non-motorized biking & boating is permitted.
- Due to difficulty in cleaning, NO GLITTER OR SMALL BEAD CRAFT PROJECTS, NO WATER BALLOONS OR CONFETTI.
- NO speakers or amplifiers, except for Weddings and Square Dances by prior arrangement.
- Large commercial coach buses cannot navigate our camp entrance, school buses and RV’s are OK.
A) If you are providing organized programs for children such as Day Camp, Resident Camp, Scouting event, or any youth program, you must provide:
- A person who is currently certified in First Aide/CPR. A copy of certificate(s) must be on file with your rental agreement before final acceptance. Only Red Cross or American Heart Association cards will be accepted.
- Provide certified Lifeguard staff when boating or swimming with a ratio of 25:1, a separate guard is required for boating and swimming if they occur at the same time. Only current Red Cross Lifeguard Cards will be accepted. Lifeguard must have current CPR for Professional Rescuers from either Red Cross or American Heart Association. Copy of card(s) must be on file with your rental agreement before final acceptance.
- Specialized activities such as Archery, Ropes Course or Horsemanship must use staff certified to supervise those activities. Copy of certificates must be on file with your rental agreement before final acceptance.
- Provide a Certificate of Insurance naming CAMP WATANDA as additionally insured.
- Provide a Food Service Staff person who has completed the state required ServSafe Certification Course; a copy of certificate must be on file with your rental agreement before final acceptance. Camp Watanda can provide you with a Certified Food Handler Consultant for additional fees.
B) If you are renting as a family, such as reunions, family camping; and cooking and supervising your immediate family and guests:
- Parents will supervise their children and immediate guests at all times while in the water or boating.
- All boaters must wear Life Jackets.
- It is not required to provide a lifeguard, CPR or First Aide certificate, Certificate of Insurance, or have a ServSafe Food Handlers certificate.
- You may have alcohol for personal consumption.
- All renters will provide “Hold Harmless” waivers for all guests unless we are added as “additionally insured”.
CAMP WATANDA WILL PROVIDE IN THE LODGE:
- Commercial range with two ovens, one with 6 burner top, the other with a griddle top.
- Walk-in chill box, commercial freezer, staff refrigerator, 20-qt commercial mixer, 2 charcoal bar-b-cues.
- Cooking and dining equipment for 60 guests.
- We do not have an automatic dishwasher, ice machine; or washer/dryer for guest use.
- 6 canoes, 2 kayaks, 1 row boat, life jackets and rescue equipment.
- Fire suppression equipment.
- 50 mattresses, 4 cots
HOW TO RENT at CAMP WATANDA:
- Complete the APPLICATION FOR SITE RENTAL. Non-refundable deposit required to confirm reservation.
- Mail application with 10% of fees as a NON-REFUNDABLE site deposit; make checks out to Kathryn McNitt. Rentals of the lodge also need to include a refundable $150 Damage/Noise Complaint deposit as a separate check for groups of 12 or more.
- Balance of fees are due 30 DAYS prior to your reserved date for the lodge and 14 DAYS for the cabin or due at time of reservation if less than these periods.
- RENTAL PACKET will be mailed to you after your application is received. Packet will include Lake Vera Waterfront rules, Lake Vera Camps Crisis Plan, Camp Watanda Emergency Plan, Camp Watanda Policies & Procedures and Fire Prevention Plan and for those providing organized programs for children, Waterfront and Kitchen Procedures.
- TO CANCEL reservation of more than 30 days (lodge) or 14 days (cabin) prior to your scheduled arrival, all monies will be refunded except for the 10% nonrefundable site deposit. For less than 30 days (lodge) or 14 days (cabin), all monies will be forfeited except the cleaning fee and damage deposit.
- DAMAGE/COMPLAINT DEPOSIT will be returned within two weeks after checkout. In the event of damage or clean-up not completed, the cost of repair, replacement or clean-up will be deducted from your deposit and/or billed to your organization. Long distance calls that appear on the bill during your stay will be billed to your organization. Damage /Complaint deposit will not be refunded if the Sheriff has to make a contact regarding noise or loud music after 9:30 p.m. $50.00 will be assessed for cigarette butt removal by Watanda staff.
